Choices Chocolate Buttons

Nom nom nom I love these big time! They're very nice though a bit pricey like all dairy free chocolates. Is rice flour & coconut oil really that much more expensive than milk?

It's def nice to have some quality tasting "milk" chocolate rather than just the really dark stuff. The choc orange ones are subtley flavoured an are reminiscent of a chocolate orange - though it's been quite a while since I've had one.

I've mentioned choices before I think - they do some brilliant "milk" chocolate caramel cups.

The buttons I got from Ocado, the caramels I've had from Waitrose, Ocado, Sainsburys & Tesco.

Warburtons gf bread

Warburtons do gf bread ... and its good!

So far I've tried:
*white rolls
*white bread
*tea cakes
The rolls are submarine style & very nice & soft not needing rehearing although they are very fragile.
The bread is soft & tasty - the slices are very small so make plenty!they do brown versions!
The tea cakes are yum - a nice tea time or breakfast treat.

All in all well played warburtons, well played. It's good too see a well known brand name entering the gluten free arena.

Shopping & Cooking Hale & Hearty Veggie Fritters

I got this mix a while ago and have been meaning to make them, and I'm sure I would have got round to it eventually but one of my favourite people on twitter - @MsCurlysue - has been nagging me to do some veggie recipes so I thought now was the right time! I'm doing a properly from scratch veggie recipe tonight so I'll be in her good books!

However back to cheaty mix recipe - these were very easy, you basically just mix the contents of the packet with some water, leave for a bit then add an egg, some parsley* & the grated veg of your choice - I did carrot & coriander (in the processor) this time. Very tasty and cant be more than 40 minutes from opening the box to opening your mouth! Something different for lunch or supper. I'm not sure how they are cold the next day coz I only did a 3rd of the box and ate them all which was very short sighted of me as if they are nice cold they'd be a great addition to my bento!

*There are lots of herbs and spices in the mix so I doubt it would matter if you missed that out. I usually have a little freezer bag of chopped parsley from Waitrose in the freezer.

Def worrth a buy amd I shall be keeping a box in the store cupboard for a quick lunch!

I did point these but I can't remember - I wrote it on the box so I will add it! I did take a picture of the finished article as well but google is being sucky and won't let me up load it - they kinda looked like fishcakes or something.

Shopping: Walters Chocolate Honey Nougat (4 points)

These are beyond good, beyond good and into special private moment territory. Light fluffy nougat, almost milky way fluffy, with a thin coating of dark chocolate.  I love them and after circa 50 of them that love has not waned!

The joy I felt when I discovered they were only 4 points on weight watchers cannot be expressed in words!

So far I have only got them online from ocado (where I first made the discovery & immediately regretted only ordering one) and amazon where you can get a box of 20 (nearly finished the second box!) I check everywhere though!

Picture is of an empty wrapper coz I couldn't wait!

Shopping: Kara Dairy Free Milk

wow ... easily the best dairy & soy free milk I have had so far. Actually a milk consistency rather than the very watery rice milk. Have had cereal for breakfast for the last 3 days and I haven't had cereal in aages! Well I have sat on the sofa and eaten it out of the box while watching telly but that doesn't really count! (Doves Farm Chocolate Stars if you're interested!)

I haven't baked or anything with it but they have recipes for things like that on the site so I'm feeling pretty confident!

I got this from ocado (ie Waitrose) but the stockists sections lists Tescos & various Health Shops.

I've got some strawberries at home so I might try a shake later!

Shopping: Patchwork Pate

I've tried to order this from ocado a few times but this time I got it. I usually have pate as an easy lunch or tea, so even though I have missed pate a LOT since giving up dairy & gluten making some didn't really appeal. This is their venison liver & chilli variety though they do have others which I will be trying if ocado let's me!

This had a tasty, earthy meatiness with a flavourful warming kick. I had it on thick slices of genius with onion relish & an apple. A win for sure & I might actually get round to making those grapeseed crackers from Elanas Pantry now!

Sent from my HTC
addendum - Monday morning & I have found a link to their site which you can order directly from & stockists. Click on the title to go there. There are a lot of tasty looking dairy free options. There is a stockists near where my receptionist lives (shopping for me is now part of her job description) and of course I can get it direct so I am a happy girl who will be eating a lot of pate!

Shopping: szechuan noodle kit

Sainsburys stock this - along with other retailers I am sure - and it makes a quick and healthy dinner. Included in the pack are ome brown rice noodles and a decent size packet of szechuan sauce, just add veg, chicke, pravns ... whatever takes your fancy! This time I did prawns and a packet of stir fry veg from M&S (I had too hook out the snow peas but there weren't many) and it was quick and tasty. Quite spicy - but I like that!

M&S Curry Sauce

I had this yesterday, after getting home from a day on the train. It was easy (the main deciding factor) with a flavoursome but not hot curry vibe. There are more flavours in the range and some of them are BBD compliant. I had chicken but I imagine it would be fab with prawns.

Shopping: Lazy Day Foods Chocolate Chip Shortbread

Tasty! Could be a bit crumblier for my tastes but the flavour is spot on and anything with chocolate chips is all good in my mind!

Shopping; Lazy Day Foods Savoury Biscuits

I must admit the first bite of these is confusing wrongness as your brain tries to work out why something the consistency of a sweet biscuit has a hint of curry flavour, but once your brain has given up and gone with it you start to enjoy them. They have more texture than say shortbread and a subtle savoury taste which has indian spicing and a pleasing tingle of heat. A suprising win which made my salad a bit more filling and will be fab with soups when the attempt at summer gives up entirely.

Shopping: It's nearly a crunchie but all grown up

Mr Simms do the usual range of chocolate I can't eat but they do a few dark things which include dark chocolate drops, which I put in my brownies sometimes, and Cinder Crunch. It is dark chocolate with bits of what is very like the inside of crunchies in - kind of like an accident in a crunchie factory where they were trying to make a grown up version. I have only 3 words - nom nom nom. As you can see I couldn't even wait until I'd taken the picture.

Shopping: Vanilla, Chocolate & Caramel Dessert Pots

I had the vanilla flavour for the first time today and it was very nice. The caramel and chocolate flavours I already know I like! They are quite set and pudding like in consistency, don't need to be kept in the fridge (although nicer chilled)  and are ideal tor packed lunches. Click on the title to be taken to the page at Pure Nature.

Shopping: Lazy Day Foods

I have tried their Tiffin (just had a bit after my salad for lunch actually, well I did have salad!) and they not only have an online oredering facility but in their (quite small but perfectly formed) range they have MILLIONAIRES SHORTBREAD! Expect some more reviews of their food soon!

Amazingly I have the tech skills to make the title of this post a link to their site!

Pretty good! Better warmed a bit, but so is most wheat free bread.

Shopping: Chocolate Tiffin from Waitrose

Another tasty & naughty treat from my recent shopping trip to Waitrose, if there was one in Derby I would be waving goodbye to size 12 forever I think! Chocolatey, biscuity and raisiny nom!

Shopping: M&S Chocolate Muffins

Finally, M&S enter the free from arena! Not a very wide range and quite a few contain butter but it's a start! First thing tried are the chocolate muffins (if that's a surprise to anyone you haven't been paying attention!) and they get the thumbs up! They are moist, light and chocolately - exactly what you'd expect of M&S cakes. Have some bread rolls to try too- watch this space!

Shopping: Lloyd Grossmans Sauces

I'm not one for bought sauces but sometimes you just don't have the energy to cook after work. The Lloyd Grossman range has a number of pasta sauces that are free from gluten/dairy/legumes and they're pretty good. This is me about to tuck into a bowl of puttanesca sauce (my personal favourite) - the pasta is from the sainsburys free from range and I have sprinkled it with some nutritional yeast flakes (cheesy!). There are also curry sauces that are Ok too. Just read the jars on both, a few have dairy in.

Shopping: Chocolate Dessert

Again from Pure Nature, tastes like the chocolate bit of rolo desserts! Doesn't have to be kept in the fridge and makes a good lunch box treat. They do vanilla (haven't tried yet) and caramel (yum) flavours too.

Shopping: Rice Whipped Cream

Another Pure Nature item - it's a bit trailer trash I know but really handy to have in the fridge! Tastes a bit like instant whip, doesn't go off too quickly and great with fruit, meringues, ice cream etc
